Match Your Walk with Your Talk

Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.

An old maxim simply says: Actions speak louder than words. In business, we are measured by our actions aligning with our attitude and answers. Most business professionals will be familiar with DWYSYD and other adages that amount to being a person of your word. Even Christian author and consultant, Steve Marr who has written of integrity in his book Integrity in the Workplace can clearly share and show the Christian's need to be guided by the Word of the Lord with verses such as Proverbs 11:3. We need to be about the Father's business as we carry out His business with pride and professionalism.

Simply put, our claim of Jesus as our Lord should make a difference in our daily walk. Another perspective would be to simply ask if we are practicing what we preach. Is our daily walk matching up with our talk? Are you a doer of the Word? Does your fruit tell people who you are and what you are about?

If you want to test the talk, examine a person's walk...
  • But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD (Gen. 6:8)
  • This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil (Job 1:1)
  • And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just (Luke 23:50)
  • Joseph being a righteous man... (Matt. 1:19)

Does your walk match your talk?

Out of Eden

Once upon a time
In the Garden sublime
A creeping creature made himself known
And slid up as if he had found the woman alone
With an eloquent hiss
He said: ‘Excuse me, Miss.
Is it true that God has really said not to touch on this?’
Most theologians cannot deny it
Even though some Christians don’t buy it.
The serpent spoke to the woman named Eve
And truth be told
That’s about all one needs to believe.
This is the beginning of the fall
When sin comes to all
And it surely is not small.
Man was silent then, though he’s weeping now
The serpent is only creeping now
As man works by the sweat of his brow.
Preachers usually misquote it
Yet, this will be duly noted
As we revile the duly demoted.
Man got his for what he did not say or do.
Woman got hers for what she did, too.
And the serpent got his for what he said that was untrue.
In the end, we learn of Him
As we learn also about them.
We all must answer to what is true
Or fall prey to the lie, too.

Season of Service in San Diego

Luis Palau is working with San Diego to bring about a change in the entire county. City Fest is on the move with its Season of Service in San Diego, so check out what is happening by the bay. We at Bayview Charities are working with Treasure Box on a major donation for the Season of Service's Not on This Day. This will address the large numbers of those who go hungry each day in San Diego.

We need your help. How can you help?

We need prayer. Please pray for God to lead us in our planning, keeping with His purpose. Pray that those who are in need are able to be fed both physically and spiritually. Pray that the Spirit unifies those who volunteer in service with harmony and love for one another as they serve. Pray that god becomes known by those who do not know Him as a result of this effort.

We need volunteers. Go to City Fest and register to Get Involved. Whether you sign up as a church, small group or an individual, get signed up and show up. Join the effort to do more than we can do on our own. Come together as one body and serve the Lord with gladness.

Build Your Reputation with Your Resources

Here's the lesson: Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends. Then, when your earthly possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home.
Luke 16:9 (NLT)
The Lord taught about the power of our possessions. Imagine if you used your wealth to build relationships. Many of the Quakers understood such practices when settling in Pennsylvania, establishing services and organizations that worked towards the greater good of society. Similarly, Richard Allen, founder of the A.M.E. denomination, used his resources to establish the Free African Society (FAS), a non-denominational mutual aid society, which assisted fugitive slaves and new migrants to Philadelphia. The Salvation Army, Goodwill, YMCA and YWCA were all established on Christian beliefs and principles, utilizing volunteer manpower and donated resources to conduct 'good works.' We have countless examples of it being done. Our issue is that we must continue the legacy of building a reputation among mankind by using our resources to provide services and support for the poor and the needy.

Amen Me!
