God questions man's trust in man rather God Almighty. He shares man's futility and questions why anyone would seek to put his or her trust in another person, especially when God is seeking you out. He wanted to rectify His relationship with His chosen people.
God had already called Israel out for its rebellion and idolatry. He was sickened by their sacrifices. He was not impressed by their rituals. Nothing could overshadow their sins against God.
We need to see where our real help comes from in this life. We can see people. They are visible, but we need to answer whether or not such people are truly vital to your existence.
God is our true help. He is in heaven, but He desires to be near to us. He wants a deep relationship with us. He is our true heavenly help. His desire is for us to be better and that means better off with Him.
Don't rely upon man. Go to God. God will send those who can help your way based upon His Holy Spirit's urging. It starts with you and God.

Daily Bread for Your Soul
"Give us day by day our daily bread." - Luke 11:3 (NKJV)
Look no further. God has already supplied you with your daily bread for your soul. He has revealed His Word to you through inspired men. He has shared the truth with you by His Spirit's divine interpretation for men to translate the Bible in multiple languages. He has already provided you with your daily bread for your soul.
Look in the Word for your answers. Yes, those questions that seem to stump your Sunday school teachers and close Christian friends. Go to the Word with desire and delight. Take it in and read it daily, feeling God's Spirit sharing with you in divine communion.
Let the Word take root into your heart daily. Let it grow in you to grow you. The Word is essential for your developmental needs as a Christian. Let it reside within you and continue to pour out of you day by day, so that you can come again the next day, seeking to gain more and more from it again and again.

Holy Spirit Work
For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say. - Luke 12:12 (KJV)
The Holy Spirit has a serious job to do. Jesus explained that to His disciples right before He departed this earth. Many theologians have studied and researched about the Spirit. Yet, we still have some trouble with the whole concept of the Holy Spirit.
Realize the Holy Spirit's power and work. The Holy Spirit teaches and takes us to task. He is the Comforter. He is the Helper. He reminds us of what the Father has commanded of us and what Jesus has provided for us.
Let the Holy Spirit:

Spending Days with the Risen Savior
1The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
2Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
3To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
4And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. - Acts 1:1-4
Acts reveals the resurrected Lord spending time with His disciples. He spent time with them, sharing vital truths with them regarding the kingdom of God. The Word says that it was forty days that they spent together.
Imagine spending a 40-day intensive with Professor Jesus Christ. Just think about it. Picture yourself spending 40 days, listening at the feet of Jesus in an intimate setting. Typically, we pay hundreds of dollars to hear gurus speak on all sorts of topics that may help us with evangelism or Vacation Bible School. These guys were in the presence of Jesus after He had risen from the grave.
You can study under Jesus, too. Spend some time getting together Him. Read His Word. Meditate on the Scriptures. get into them and get into discussion and dialogue with others about them.
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life:
and they are they which testify of me.

Ministered by the Master
Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lake, and a large crowd from Galilee followed. When they heard about all he was doing, many people came to him from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, and the regions across the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon. - Mark 3:7-8 (NIV)
Jesus was oftentimes called the Master. The Master healed people. The Master helped people. He was the Master.
For he had healed many,
so that those with diseases
were pushing forward to touch him.

Problems in the Pews
And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. - Mark 11:25 (ESV)
Problems come up when we have to deal with each other. Jesus addressed it. He stated it plainly. He didn't sugar-coat the truth. He offered a solution that many of us just won't get into at all.
He said for us to forgive. If you have something against somebody, forgive that person. If you still hold a grudge, paraphrasing Jesus, don't just pray to God. Forgive that person. Free yourself of the emotional baggage and bondage, then pray to the Father who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
Harbor ill feelings about somebody and you won't get far. That's not good. You will end up at odds with others and out of order with God. God has forgiven you for your trespasses. That should help you forgive others, too.
There's a solution in the Scriptures for the problems in the pews.

Let Your Faith Be Seen

Faith is expected to be on display. In one way or another, believers are expected to somehow show that they truly believe what they profess and proclaim. We are supposed to walk and live by faith.

On Fire or on Fumes
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. - Galatians 6:9 (NIV)
If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. - Proverbs 24:10 (KJV)
We need to be on fire and remain on fire in the work of this ministry. When we lose our fire, we burn out and begin to flame out as we eventually end up running on fumes. That should not be the case for us since we have the Helper, the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, with us to help us and guide us. Yet, we still experience such times.
We need to see how our downcast countenance can impact others, especially when we stand before the congregation or sit at the board table. We need to understand that we have to do more than simple show up and serve. We need to be mindful of our affect as we serve the Lord day by day.
Let us not look for a reward here on this earth. The pay will never match up to the sacrifice. The benefit package will never equate to the blessings that you have to bestow upon others and to witness with your own eyes. You will never get the kudos or respect that you deserve, but you have a reward awaiting you in heaven that is great and bountiful. Just hold on and don't get weary and worn out.
